Did EU trade with Belarus just become easier?

On June 9th, the EU announced that it had approved agreements that would facilitate of the issuance of visas and published an Agreement with Belarus. Business visits may become easier.

Who? The European Council

When? 9 June 2020

Document: Council Decision, Agreement

What happened?

The EU agreed to facilitate, for mutual benefit, the issuance of visas for an intended stay of no more than 90 days in any 180-day period to the citizens of the Union and Belarus. It also agreed to readmit certain persons residing without authorisation

Why does it matter?

The liberalisation of the visa regime is a further step towards a visa-free regime. This makes businesses and private exchanges between citizen and businesses easier.

What can I do?

If you are trading with Belarus or intent to do so, check out the details of the legislation, understand which EU Member States are excluded from the scope.
