New rules on trade of dual-use items agreed

The EU Council has announced that agreement has been reached on an updated regulation which will set out the EU regime for the control of exports, brokering, technical assistance, transit and transfer of dual-use items. The agreement now needs to be endorsed by the EU Permanent Representatives Committee (Coreper), after which Parliament and Council will be called upon to adopt the regulation at first reading.
