What this course is all about - in a nutshell
The course has two parts. In the first part, students acquire knowledge and understanding to enter goods into a jurisdiction. It includes every step up to the ultimate release of the goods and the associated roles and responsibilities. The second part covers the export & exit process. You will develop knowledge to export and exit goods from your country/jurisdiction, step by step. (Course ID: OC12+14).
NOTE: This class does not discuss the designation of the goods to customs procedures, e.g. Entry into free circulation, special customs procedure etc. Please book the relevant course to learn about these.

What we will cover in this course
Part 1: Entry of Goods
- The concepts relevant to the process of Entry of goods into the jurisdiction
- Pre-arrival safety and security notifications or declarations, technical terms and time limits to introduce a pre-arrival safety and security declaration;
- Different customs offices
- Timelines
- The workflows, communication and systems (e.g. pre-arrival notification systems, port systems, company IT systems.) used to enter goods into the jurisdiction of your interest (to indicate when booking)
- Presentation notifications
- How and what information to Customs (including a look at data elements)
- Understanding to whom and what information one should send
- The regularisation of declarations following an assessment
- Possible exemptions of duties and relevant conditions;
- How to read notifications from Customs (confirmations and rejections, no load messages, advanced intervention messages, etc.)
- Appropriate and/or required follow-up actions
- The relevant partners that are commonly involved in entering goods into your jurisdiction
- Roles and responsibilities associated with the Entry of goods into a country
- The division of the roles (person lodging notification of arrival, carrier, the customs office of lodgement, etc.) and responsibilities related to entering goods in a country.
Part 2: Export and Exit of Goods
- The concepts of export, exit, exit summary declaration information and re-export advice
- Deep-Dive onto activities to export goods out of the country/jurisdiction
- Export formalities (standard export procedure as well as any simplified export procedure, export procedures related to centralised clearance (if applicable), direct and indirect exports (if appropriate), export and excise goods), how to lodge an export declaration, how and where to present the goods to customs if requested; how to support customs controls if needed).
- Exit formalities (how to complete and lodge presentation notifications and exit
- notifications; how to present acceptable alternative evidence to prove that goods have exited; exceptional situations in exit formalities - split exit and ATO – Authorised Transport Operator (if applicable), how to support customs controls if needed)
- Safety and security exit declarations (the conditions these can / must be used, how to complete and lodge these, support customs controls if needed; how to complete and lodge presentation notifications and exit notifications if required)
- Re-export notification (the conditions under which a re-export notification can be used, how to complete and lodge a re-export notification and exit notification.
- Control “a posteriori” of the exit (The possible alternative arguments (proofs of
- exit) to prove the exit ‘a posteriori’).
- The workflows, communications and used export and exit control systems and company systems etc.
- The relevant partners commonly involved in the export & exit process, the division of the roles and responsibilities related to exporting and exiting goods out of a country /jurisdiction

Quiz: Test Your Knowledge
Participants are invited to complete a Quiz after the training. If they pass with a rate of 80%, they will receive a Certificate of Completion in “Entry of Goods. Export & Exit of Goods” - Level 1 - Awareness. This ascertains that you have received formal training and have met the above outcomes and results.
Possibility to upgrade to Level 2 - Trained
You can achieve a Level 2 - Trained qualification by completing additional tasks/case studies and exercises. This will allow you to demonstrate that you can handle standard situations and related tasks in the field of Entry of Goods. Export & Exit of Goods - independently. Completing a level 2 will require you to invest 2-4 hours of self-study based on a work programme with deliverables. The exercises will mimic practical daily activities in businesses. You will receive tutor support during this study and feedback on your submissions. If you successfully complete the work programme, you can obtain a Certificate of Completion in “Entry of Goods. Export & Exit of Goods” - Level 2 - Trained. This implies that we have verified and agree that you have an excellent working knowledge of the concepts and systems related to the subject studied. You can apply and use this knowledge in your daily activities.
An additional fee is payable, and more time needs to be invested. Please indicate if you like to progress to Level 2, and we will provide further information.
