This training is a Course for the Diploma in Customs Competencies. It can also be studied as a stand-alone training course.

This course is ideal for customs and global trade professionals that need to become competent in determining the economic origin of the goods to take advance to tariff preferences in Free Trade Agreements.

This course covers

a. The concept of the origin of goods and rules of origin for preferential and non-preferential origin

b. International and national legislation regarding the origin of goods (for example US, EU and UK - please indicate other countries when booking that you have an interest in). 

c. Process to determine the origin of goods, in particular when the goods have been processed in several countries

d. The concept and use of Advanced Origin Rulings or Binding Origin Information Decisions (EU)

e. Proofs of origin (various jurisdictions - examples EU, US/CA/MX, UK etc)

Expected Outcome and Results

Upon completion of this course, you will have developed a good awareness and essential knowledge of:

  • The concept of the origin of goods, including preferential and non-preferential
  • origin of goods;
  • The methods to determine the origin of goods;
  •  The concept and use of Advanced Origin Rulings 
  •  The proofs (or Certificates) of origin.

Quiz

Participants are invited to complete a Quiz after the training. If they pass with a rate of 80%, they will receive a Certificate of Completion in "Origin of Goods & FTA" - Level 1 - Awareness. This ascertains that you have received formal training and have met the above-stated outcomes and results. 

Possibility to upgrade to Level 2 - Trained 

Upon successful completion of a Level 1, you have the possibility to achieve a Level 2 - Trained qualification with the completion of additional tasks/case studies and exercises. his will allow the student to demonstrate that they are able to handle standard situations and related tasks in the field of the Origin of Goods & FTAs independently. Obtaining a Certificate of Completion in "Origin of Goods & FTA successfully implies that this person has a good working knowledge of origin & FTA rules, concepts and systems and is able to apply and use this knowledge in their daily activities. An additional fee is payable and more time needs to be invested. Please indicate, if you like to progress to Level 2 when booking for the course and we will provide additional information.
